	female betta+ gouramis
agent_alice Hobbyist Posts: 114 Kudos: 115 Votes: 0 Registered: 11-Jul-2004	I'm thinking of getting a female betta for my community tank (platys and gouramis). Will the female betta be aggressive toward gouramis or the other way around (i heard that sometimes the fact that they are closely related hurts)?

It is really the luck of the draw with female bettas, some are peaceful and some are very aggressive. It helps if your tank is heavily planted with many hiding spots.

I would recommend go the the LFS and watch how the females interact, and then pick a non-aggressive one. If you put the betta in and the gouramis start attacking (or visa-versa) then be prepared to move it to another tank. HTH
