I have a female in w/ 4 cories in a 10 gallon tank. First I tried 3 females, and in a matter of minutes they were nipping at each other and I didn't want to risk it and pulled 2 out.

The female w/ the cories at first gave 1 a nip, but now she dosn't bother them at all. I have even found all 5 in a lil pot that I have in there.

It all depends upon the Betta and what you try to put them with.

Good Luck

My twenty gallon long houses six female bettas, six black neons, three cories (working on getting them buddies) and up until Saturday, my poor little albino BN plec. Everyone seems happy and there hasn't been a sign of aggression at all after the girls decided on their pecking order. Even then, the aggression was minimal.

Yes, betta girls can be aggressive. But it IS possible to keep them in a community tank. However, you have to base your plans on a particular betta... some are fiesty lil warriors, and some are sweet as angels.

The great thing about female bettas is that, unlike their male counterparts, you can watch them interact with their tankmates and each other. (Assuming, of course that you don't have a male in a community tank. ) They seem to have a lot more personality than the males because of the interaction, and really are my favorite fish.

Not that I don't adore my male bettas... but really, how could you *possibly* walk into my room, see all those insatiably curious betta girls gathered close to the front of the glass just *watching* you and NOT go to play with them?

I have a single female betta in my 29 gal community. However, it is extremely well planted and she has plenty of places to hide. I did have a couple other females in with her, but they tried to kill each other, so I removed them. But currently she lives happily with mollies, gouramis, cories and swordies. So it can be done

Good luck!!!
