bettachris   Ultimate Fish Guru Posts: 3875 Kudos: 4173 Votes: 452 Registered: 13-Jun-2004  | well i am not an expert in gouramies but what i know is that on a pearl gouramie the males have the extended rays and have orange fins, i beleive that on blue gouramies as well as the snakeskin that the dorsal fins has extended rays. maybe that can help. |

I got two gouramis, and the guy at the pet store said that maybe the light one is a female and the one that has darkish markings near its dorsal fin is male, or the other way around. does anyone know? |

girlunderrainbow Big Fish Posts: 323 Kudos: 230 Votes: 0 Registered: 22-Aug-2003 | For all of the Gouramis I have seen, the top fin is more pointed in the males. I've had Blue/Opaline/Pearl/Dwarf..and sexed lots of other types at LFS this way. Seems to hold true. |
