I bought my first Paradise fish today, posted a pic here.

I thought there was only one type of Paradise fish, but as I was researing online I found macropodus ocellatus, opercularis, and concolor.

I think I've figured out concolor is a black Paradise fish, but which type do I actually have?

Thanks

Oh that's sad, I forgot about this post

Unfortunately I didn't realize that paradise fish were good jumpers. I wrote about it in the Worst Mistakes Thread.

I was so upset when that happened, my husband kept asking me if/when I'd get another so I did this past weekend The one I have now is definitely a male m. opercularis.

That was a funny thread I could just picture everyone looking and wondering where their lil fish went.

I'm always worried because when I change the Betta tanks I do it at the kitchen sink. After one jumped out of the cup (I use the cups we bought them in) and started plopping towards the sink. (we have a garbage disposal... and it would be impossible to get them )

Now I make sure to cover the drain.

Gravel + garbage disposals = a bad combo

I broke the darn thing twice after running it without knowing gravel had gone down. Covering the drain is now a regular habit
