ok i have a male and female betta that im getting ready to breed. so last night i left their bowls close together and this morning when i looked at them the male has a bunch of bubbles on top of his bowl. is he starting to make his bubble nest thing inside his betta bowl??

Yes, that would be a bubble nest. Male bettas do that in preparation for spawning.

I have to second the 'don't worry about asking questions'. No-one has all the answers and sometimes asking (what you may think are 'stupid') questions turns out to help others who wanted to know but didn't risk it.

My concern would be how big is the betta bowl? If it's quite small, breeding would be a rather risky business since either the female or male might be likely to become quite aggressive - tearing fins, etc...
If this is your first time around, you might want to check out some of the threads in the Breeding Forum.....
