Hi
Here are the characteristics of the genus Aponogeton.
I think you will find the article and other links
informative http://www.thekrib.com/Plants/Plants/apons-randall.html

These plants require a "rest period." In the wild, this is
when the water temperature drops to 62-64 degrees during
the months of December to February.

This infomation is from
Link
http://species.fishindex.com/plant_13.html

Family: Aponogetonaceae
Scientific Name: Aponogeton ulvaceus
Common Name:
Distribution: Madagascar
Height: 30-50
Width: 30-35
Light Required: avarage-high
Temperature: 18-28
pH: acid-neutral
Ease of care: avarage
Notes: Aponogeton ulvaceusis a stout plant which demands large tanks with a goodamount of water surface. The leaves are translucent, bright green with a narrowed leaf base. The leaves aretypical 20-50 cm long (occasionally up to 100 cm atoptimum growth conditions), 3-10 cm broad and wavy on thesides. The primary form of Aponogeton ulvaceusis rather rare, and most available plants are hybrids. Asmany other Aponogetons this plant requires aperiod of rest. In winter cut off the roots and leavesand put it into unwashed sand in flowerpots in cold waterfor two months in a dark place. Or less circumstantial, place the tuber in a flowerpot on the windowsill togetherwith a ordinary plant which never dries out. Afterthis period of rest, put it back into the tank.
Author: Tropica

As you can see you will have to provide plenty of care with this plant.

Keith
