Justin,

I got some Bolbitis for my 40G a few weeks back and it is doing ok. I was informed that it takes quite a while to settle when added to a tank, it roots best on driftwood and rock (but wood is better) and will not grow much until the roots have attached themselves. After that, it will take off and requires frequent pruning by removing entire leaves. If not done then it will grow into a huge bush.

It is a pretty undemanding plant otherwise, does not require high light and CO2 but will for sure do better under these conditions. It also loves being placed into the current.

I hope this helps,

Ingo

My plant book describes two varieties "heudelotii" which is the thin leafed form and is described as hard to grow in Aquariums and "heterocllta" a wider leafed variety but apprently is the harder variety to grow.
It also states that both varieties must be grown on DW or a rock. I personally would preferer DW as the fine hair like roots would have something soft and easy to attach to.

It must not be grown in the substrate (that what could be the difficult part) as the creeping rhizome and the fine hair like roots will rot extremly easy.

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info
