Co2 will still dissolve at a high kh but there is a point at which it's too difficult to lower the ph without adding so much co2 you kill the fish. That's when you have my water. Even when the tank is loaded with co2 and the plants are doing great my ph sits at a nice high 8.6. That's 18-20dkh. Co2 charts and calculators do not seem to be accurate when you have that high of a carbonate hardness. Even when I have seriously increased plant growth and pearling the calculators say I only have around 2ppm co2. I estimate my co2 only by watching the fish and plants.

I thought my KH of 16 was high! I am dropping my PH to around 7 though and the plants and fish are doing fine with it.

Here are a couple of the same profiles of my 42hex, but with slightly different exposures. I wasn't sure which one would look best posted....

Sorry about the pics! I have had a hard time being able to post more than one pic at a time..for some reason when I choose to reply and post the 2nd pic, 3rd pic, etc it keeps showing up as the 1st one I tried to post! In this instance it keeps re-posting my outlay..at least in the "preview" anyway. Any one have any ideas how to correct this?

Your tank looks pretty helthy. In terms of scaping. I would try and leave a bit of open space and thicken up some of your stem plants.
