i redid my 12 gallon eclipse tank last night and added 20 lbs of of eco-complete. i use declorinated water to fill the tank up.

i checked the tank this morning and the cloudiness has gone away but the substrate looks like ash. is this how its suspose to look?

You can add your plants now and yes the Eco Complete is a kind of gray/black ash like color. It als0 looks alot like black lava cinders.

It will settle and have less of that dusty look. Kinda looks like mud/dirt dumped in the tank to start with. After awhile the large pieces go to the top and the small pieces to the bottom. It looks more like little boulders or round bits of gravel instead of like mud. I didn't like it the first time I filled a tank but it always looks better after a few days and continues to settle over the next month. The only problem with it is that it shifts so much you can't setup a sloped tank. It works itself even over a few months unless you block it with wood or rocks.
