hi i was just wondering a live plant that would be compatible with an oscar as a way of keeping nitrates down.it need to be tough or possibly floating so the oscar will resist the temptation to uproot it, and it need to be fairly hardy( i do not want hornwart needles shedded and floating around the tank, or clogging up the filter). Any Suggestion?
Thanks

Anubias and Java fern would be two good low light plants to try out. The nice thing about these plants is that they do best when attached to rocks or driftwood. If you are interested in floating plants you could try water lettuce.

Check out the links below to help find a plant that might work for you.

You "could" try the larger thicker leaved Anubias it will depend on the individual fish weather they eat the plant or not.

It certainly would have to be fixed to drift wood other wise they will continually dig any plant up. Also Anubias prefers to grow on DW.

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info
