Java Fern grows nicely in low light as well as medium and high light.

It might look a little stringier in low light though, but it shouldn't die.

Off course if there is no light (or very very little) reaching them then they will succumb.

I have Jave fern growing in my Betta tank tops actually touching the glass. and the base in total darkness.

In the 5ft tank it actually grows at one end mid tank but not directly under the light. Light is 6ins in from end of tank.

I think it is a very easy plant to grow that adapts very easy.

Have a look in [link=My Profile]
http://www.fishprofiles.com/interactive/forums/profile.asp?userid=6741[/link] for my tank info
