I am interested in having a planted tank. Could someone give me more information on what i need to do this.

there are all of tehse fancy gravels,co2,and lighting,

but i dont use anything and my plants are still alive?lucky maybe,

some plants that i have that might be worth a look:

java moss,
anubias nana and the bwoard leaf one
java fern,
duck weed,
frontalis,
amazon swords

So I can just try may hand at it and hope for the best. Does it make the tank very messy? WWith the leaves and stuff?

For that answer what size is the tank, filtration, Co2 yes or no, fish in tank, lighting type you have, any preferances in tank design? What plants can you get local LFS or do you have to buy on line?

Finally how much do you want to spend.
Different plants require diffent lighting, and growing conditions.

Co2 can be expensive many use it and many do not.

Buying and hoping is certainly the wrong way to go the LFS will like you as you keep coming back.
