Hi,
Generally speaking the daylight time should be between
8 and 10 hours. You can set a timer for that and forget
it, or, you could do 8 hours in the "winter" months, and
10 Hours during your "Summer" months.

Helo, my light is for 9 hours activated. Between 1 and 4 p.m. i deactivate it because of the sun-light. The advantage is, that the light is on at evening when iam at home.

Hi,
Generally speaking because our tanks are tropical, with tropical plants, we would want to minic the daylight cycle in the tropics. By that I mean give your plants between 8 to 10 hours of light. You can shift that time period so to include the sunlight shining on the tank, and shortening the length of time the lights are actually on and have them go off when you would normally be going to bed.
