Oh oh Orbits are cool.

I'm a fan of the Aquamedic strip lights, but Orbit ones are really neat. Both look very space age like IMO. I was going to go with an Orbit fixture at one point, but because of the design of my skirt it doesn't fit right. Also I'm not sure they have exactly what I'm looking for MH wise...

A lot of my customers at work have those fixtures and are happy with them though. I'm sure you will be too.

And I know what you mean...I've got a lot of other things I feel I need to buy before I get my lights. It's frustrating. ]

Good Luck.

Which fixture did you decide to go with?

I'm curious because I'm in the process of picking out a 48" fixture for my 72 gallon tank.

you are going to be hard pressed to find an lighting to keep corals happy for a couple hundred, especially on a 4 ft tank. On a 75g I would probably go with 660w of VHO if I wasnt willing to spend the money on halides and wasnt planning on keeping SPS or clams.

In order to recommend lights, we've got to know how much money you're willing to spend. They can get VERY pricey. Check out [link=Marine Depot's]http://www.marinedepot.com" style="COLOR: #3c4e82[/link] website for some ideas if you'd like.

That's just a little over 1 wpg, which is not much light at all. I wouldn't even consider getting an anenome or any type of coral at all until you at LEAST double the amount of light you have on there, preferably triple even. Marine creatures are much more dependendent on light than freshwater ones are.

Have you considered getting some sort of MH pendant(s)???

Not even close to enough light to even keep soft corals in. I would do no less than 660w of VHO on that tank if I wanted to keep a BTA.

The WPG, or watt per gallon rule, isn't really effective in marine tanks, because of all the different types of lighting like DRO stated. So it's kind of hard to say how much light you need if you know what I mean.

It'd be a lot easier for you to tell us what lighting you have on the tank now, and then we can discuss whether or not it's suitable for a bubble tip.

What lighting are you using? VHO, PC, MH?
