Not real sure. Tell up more about it. Does it grow larger in the light? And shrink down at night? Is it soft or hard? Did it just appear on your LR? Or is it something you bought?

It kinda looks like a bubble coral to me.

Not a bubble coral; no wayyyy.

It just grew out of nowhere. As far as I know, it stays the same size all the time, but it is growing like wildfire. And it's soft, almost jelly like. At first I thought it was some sort of algae, but then uhm, it started to look really bizarre. So yeah I have no idea. :-/

Looks like purple bubble algae to me .... if there were such a thing. If it's growing fast, I'd try to vac it out, or move the rock to the fuge for a bit, It'd be a nice addition to a fuge as long as it's all safe and good.

Do they seem more like water filled sacs or are the "arms" solid, not hollow? And did you figure out if the base is calcareous or not? Maybe we can narrow down the types of critter it/they could be.

Not that I've noticed Natalie. :-/ I could be mistaken on that though, I'll try tomorrow when the lights are on again.

PS...found this, a bit of an older shot.
