I am still getting live rock for my tank and fish that I am planning on getting are still toss ups. I am thinking of getting rid of the Banded Coral Shrimp and getting some more peppermint shrimp.

I tested my parameters, and the only issue was pH, which, oddly, I need to raise. I say oddly because tap water here is usually pretty high, plus the salt added, PLUS the buffer, PLUS the aragonite...

Anyway, to answer some potentional future questions, yes my angel is pretty good at leaving my corals alone, yes one of my clowns is starting to huddle in the anemone a little, yes my pistol shrimp and goby have paired up (even though they goby was purchased alone and the shrimp was FROM an old pair), yes I do intend to increase my lighting (a light is on the way actually ) but for now I have everything under the current light.

IMAGE TIME!!!!

First, I would like to say that I was not using my own camera, thus I did not fully understand it (I was playing with a LOT of settings and didn't find what I wanted). So ignore any uglyness and whatnot.

The captions are under the pictures, and as a note, the full tank shot came AFTER I rearranged the tank, and the close ups are BEFORE.

I like the Goby and shrimp pair. Get some more pics of those two! I agree the tank needs a backround...and more stuff! Good job on the upgrade, the rockwork is nice with that ledge there, I like ledges for some reason.

yeah yeah yeah. As soon as I can get the black background, I will. but hey! since when did the ocean have a background!!??
and more stuff

I'm working on that too. I'm looking at getting some type of large soft coral. Mainly a leather of some type. We have a colt coral at my store and it looks GREAT, but of course (due to store policy) I can't buy it. I'd have to special order them.

Also, I'm thinking of getting some type of polyp to take a good amount of space throughout the tank. Basically, I want something to take over the tank, and then have all the other corals popping out of it. I think green star polyps will work nicely. And if I'm lucky, I might be able to get a small piece of 5 to 7 polyps free from work from the display tank!
I like the Goby and shrimp pair. Get some more pics of those two!

I'd love to, but the problem is that they really only come out during feeding time. also, the tunnel work that the shrimp has built is pretty elaborate from what I can tell. I see about three holes in the sand under the big rock they live in.

Thanks for the comments, new pictures are coming soon, well, as soon as I can get my hands on a camera again.

That stinks. The store I work at doesn't have a policy like that. We can pick and chose from what's in the store. When I'd work there every day over the summer I was able to get all the nice little frags whenever they came in.

My green star polyps are finally starting to spread. It was the first coral I got, and I've just now started to notice some growth. I was even able to cut a bit and paste it on the side of the tank, hopefully to cover the wall. I'm going to try to cover the overflow box too. Good way to cover up the "unnatural" stuff. Neat little coral IMO.

the employee policy is that we can only get stuff that:

1) are highly stocked (generally doesn't apply to freshwater since we get them in by the dozens). Thus if something is the last one, we cannot get it.

-or-

2) has been in the store for a while

Basically, the rule is, if we are buying something at employee cost, the general public must have a good and fair chance at getting it. Also, things that are hard to get in, we have to have A LOT on hand in order for us to be able to get it.

Not to mention, we get a pretty darn good discount, the store doesn't really make any money off employee purchases, so we have to be fair.

UPDATE

Tank went (and still kinda going through) an ich (crypt.) problem and killed a pink skunk clown. My anemone moved, however it moved to a GREAT spot, and looked great too... until it decided to move again. So now it's gone.

However, to replace those guys, I got a Pajama Cardinal and a Gorgonian. Yes I know Gorgonians don't have a good survival rate, but I like taking risks. I also have some Green Star Polyps in there too.

Crypt problem gone!!!!

i think

none of my fish are showing any signs of it anymore and my angel has been coloring up some more. I will keep feeding garlic for a while, just to be sure. Yes I know garlic wont cure it, but it should help my fish keep it away for a while until their immune system builds up enough to hold it off on their own.

Glad the ich is gone, but you bought more fish while you were having disease problems?

I bought an alveopora a couple months ago, and while supposedly a bit hardier than gorgonians, they are still supposed to be short lived. Mine is still doing well, even after my mishap. Both are a pretty cool coral.
