Hi guys and gals,

I "collected" a blood red coloured anemone of a man made reef along the coastline,(Shhhhhhhhhhhh dont tell anyone LOL), and I have been told it is a waratah anemone by a marine distributor here, but I cant find any info on it at all.

Does anyone know anything about them??? Where I went there was heaps of them in shallow tidal pools. They are very mobile and will even come to the top of the tank and quite happily sit there for days attached to the glass. They are only about 1 inch wide and all of the ones I saw were about that size and dont know if they grow bigger as I never saw any larger.
They resemble a radianthas but without the colour tip.

Without dismantling the tank I cant get a pic for you at the moment as they are hidden under rock today, but will do asap (they must be camera shy).

Thanks for any info you may be able to give me.

While looking up the Actinia tenebrosa - Waratah Anemone, I found that the Phlyctenanthus australis - Red Anemone, looks more similar to the photo posted. I found it at this site here:

Just an observation, due to the color matching more closely with the one posted on this site.
