Hello, I have a 55 gallon tank and in the past I had used purple up to make the rocks purple and have been perfect for the past 3 years, this week suddenly the walls started turning pale green, and now almost all the walls are green and with a slimy look.
The guy that helps me maintain the tank has no idea what it is, could you help me identify what's the problem? Thanks!!!

To really help you out I'd want to know what some of the parameters are in the tank. pH, nitrate, phosphate, calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium levels would all be useful. It looks to me like your coralline algae is dying back and a nuisance algae is taking over. That will happen when one or more parameter is out of an acceptable range. I'd personally test those I listed above and do some additional water changes.
