I've thought about it while browsing the tanks at work, but I haven't actually PUT any thought into it, if that makes sense.

Somebody suggests not to get a bi color blenny b/c they hide all the time...but like Nate told me it's luck of the draw mostly. What's everyones experience with them??

Might be changing the green chromis...

Any ideas on stocking order? The 6 line will come later on so that the pod population has sprouted considerably, but that's the only thing I'm sure of.

EDIT: green chromis are changing into chalk bass...

As per our chat im still hunting for things to look at for you but in regards to skimming, i personally would go overrated for your tank, gives you a safety buffer and will really help to keep your water in top shape.

As for your fish choices, i think they have been discussed... but heres my take on the legendary 6 line

My six line dashes in for some food that i add but only because he is a pig, over time he has developed a hunting route which he follows slowly through the rockwork and he snaps up pods as he sees them. He is nearly next to no maintenance and if it werent for variety being the spice of life i wouldnt even feed him Hes fat but he likes it that way. One thing i love about him is he knows where the "safe zones" are for pods and he smashes them as soon as they are visible

As for foods, i feed anything. Mussels, squid, scallops, various flakes and the usual frozen foods. Give as many types as you can a try but if trying something new, make sure its in appropriatly sized pieces for the fish (i cut things up with scissors)

New tanks are exciting :88)

Green Chromis are great. Get 4 or 5 instead of 3. It wont really impact your bioload, but it is great to watch. Though I have heard three is good, I love my 4. They are very active, and interesting to watch.

The chalk bass is not a wrasse, but it is a basslet. Though little, there is a difference. As for the reason, it was not because of attitude and agression, mearly that they are hogs when it comes to feeding and they will grab up every piece of food they can fit into their mouths, even if they spit it out later, and don't eat it at feeding time. So, my main suggestion is, either try some other fish in its place, or get other fish that are like it. I personally have 2 in my reef tank right now. I love the little guys. But at feeding time, I feed one side of the tank for them, and when they go after the food, I feed the other side of the tank, where all the other fish are waiting, knowing that they have to rush and get it before the chalk bass gets back over to that side of the tank. They are great fish, with great personalities, just hogs.

The lawn mower blenny, yes should be added after you have some growth on the LR and such. Also, yes they can be more than one in a tank without much problem, if the tank is at least 75 gal, and there is enough food for two.

A few suggestions about the corals, be very carful when mixing hard SPS corals with the softies and LPS. Most of the SPS usually don't have any real "stingers" to mention, and thus have no way to defend themselves against other coral attacks. Yes, corals can attack each other and do so on a regular basis. Those that can inflate such as the hammer, frogspawn, torch (very nasty one here), and many others, can lean over and sting other close by corals. The SPS can be injured and even die from some of these stings. Do your research on each and every individual coral you buy, as some even have "sweeper" tenticles that are several inches long and they can release these into the water to sting other close by corals. And example of one of these is the maze brain. These should have about 3+ inches of room all the way around them, so as they will not cause any damage to other corals.

The same thing goes with anemones, do your research, as some require extremely high lighting, while other prefer moderately light tanks (moderate as in reef tank moderate). As well, some have weak stings, while others can kill many of your corals. Use caution when picking out an anemone.

HTH....

Nice to see you around again, and thanks for your advice. Now I must poke out some more questions.

You suggested no chalk bass...do you recommend adding a couple other wrasses instead of them? And they will all be okay with my 6 line?

The Lawn Mower Blenny: I was actually looking at one in a magazine that came the other day, and considered it. Do they like to be alone or do they prefer company? And based on the fact that they like to graze on algae, it'd be a good idea to wait a little before adding him/her so there's a nice crop or two...right?

As of now, I haven't begun to choose which corals I'd like to keep. But I'm going to have enough lighting for soft and hard corals and clams. I'm welcome and open to suggestions! Anenomes sound fun...there are some awfully pretty ones, though some can be rather nasty...suggestions?

Thanks.

Sounds like an OK list to me.

But to comment on several of the other suggestions here.
As for the angels. There are a couple that will do great in the reef tanks. They are the TRUE dwarf angels. There are only a couple that are available to the hobby though. Hopefully this will change soon. By true dwarf, I mean those that stay around 2 inches in total length.

As for the firefish, in the wild these fish live in colonies, or groups. In the aquarium, these fish can be either way. If you introduce single fish at a time, they will sometimes become loners, and will not like being with new additions of more firefish. But usually they are fine with new additions of other firefish. If you introduce them to the tank as a group or 3 or more, they will hang together, and be just fine.

I would not suggest the chalk bass. These are nice fish, and I actually like them in the right tank. I just don't think they would be right for your tank. The thing is, they are very active, especially when it is feeding time. And the other fish may not get the foods they need, as the chalk bass are extreme hogs. And very quick! They will not bother any of the other fish, but you may have problems feeding the other fish.

As for the blenny, I would suggest a lawn mower blenny. I know they are not the most colorful fish, but they are extremely lovable. They are always active and rarely hiding. They will graze your LR and keep the hair algae down.

Some more suggestions for your tank. Some of the smaller wrasses. Like the filament wrasse, the yellow hog wrasse, and many more of the smaller ones. These do not get large and they will not harm your corals. They are very colorful, and several can be kept together. I used to have 3 filiment wrasses in a 75 reef. It was an awsome sight.

Not knowing your coral in your reef, but I would suggest maybe an anemone, for the clowns. Other wise, they may take up in one of your other corals, and some corals are not appreaciative of this, and may close up mostly and possibly die.

HTH. . . .

These are the guys I picked out for my reef tank...if anyone has any ideas/comments I would like to hear them, because I don't know NEARLY as many sw guys as I do fw. And I would also like some opinions on food.

Stocking is as follows:

*trio of green chromis
*a pair of ocellaris clowns
*a pair of purple fire fish
*one bi-color blenny
*one six line wrasse
*one yellow tang (possibly...haven't decided yet)

Thanks.

I think your tank is pretty full but have you thought about adding any shrimp? Skunk cleaner shrimp are a nice addition to a reef tank.

Would it be okay to get one purple firefish and one red?

And can anybody give me recomendations on diet? I can bring home certain live foods several times a week since I work at a pet store...I have access to a lot.
