hi all,

my tank has got these really fine yellow-greenish particles flowing around. I donno what it is, but i think they are dead algae. They deposits over my rocks and made my tank look slightly yellowish, you can also see them flowing around the water. I think my filter is not fine enough to trap all of these particles.

What are these yellow-greenish particles, and how can i get rid of them?

many thanks

I would think running carbon and some filter floss would do it.
Whats in the tank, how new is it,lighting, water parameters???

Do you have any algae eaters in your tank, and have you tried any water changes? We might know more about what's going on if we knew that, for instance, it was a type of algae that, say, a bn wouldn't eat.

i've had this tank for 10months now...
the whole thing is cycled, but its a shame my water quality still sux since i still have algae problems...

its a 10gal AR-380 nano tank, 33watt 8000k PC, and i have one small powerhead. I use spring water for top off (since i can't get any RO water). Water quality, ammonia 0.25, nitrite 0, nitrate 0, donno about others as no test kits for those.

all it has at the moment are some corals, no fish (plan to add a clownfish this week).

i heard you mentioned about carbon filter, yeah it might be the problem, because i don't have a carbon filter in the tank for the whole time, i'll put one in and see if it helps.

as for phosphate, it might be the problem as well, i'll get some Phosphate abosorber and put it in as well.

I hope adding those to my filter also solves my algae problems.

Thanks for the advice guys

Have you tested the "spring Water" it may already have nuitrients in the water? Are you doing water changes or just top offs? After 10 months you should have 0 Ammonia. How old are the test kits that you have? Disreguard the earlier comment on brown diatoms, after this long they should be long gone.
