Just a quick question. I've been doing small water changes in my 70 gal reef(about 4 gal once a week) for about 5 months. I'm considering doing 8 gal once every 2 weeks cause I'm going away for a couple months and I have to entrust my wife to help me while I'm gone. Is this okay or should I continue with the same and just hope?

8gals will be fine. You could even skip a week if you want to keep with the 4gal changes.

you will be fine...you could technically do 50-100% water changes once a week. Anthony Calfo suggested this to me over dinner while he was visiting so Im gonna try it once I get moved and replumb my tank.

With that being said, 8-10 gallon changes once a week will be fine.

Wow thats a lot of RO/DI water to lug around. I'd have some pretty big arms after a 35 gallon water change. I've never heard of that much at one time. I guess it couldn't hurt anything provided you had the salinity and temp just right.

I don't add water unless it is within 1 degree of what im taking out.

I also do this 5 gallons at a time out, and 5 gallons at a time in, with a bucket of course
I only have three tanks right now but in a bit i'll have 4.

My fish are fine with it to the nibble at my fingers and play, not hide out in a corner.

I guess the whole reason for me doing this is, I HATE discolored water period.

Should get a python lol
