I had a breeder cage that held baby cories setting on the side of the tank, and while i was catching my black neons with the net, one made a desperate bolt for the surface and ended up jumping out of the tank and into the breeder cage. Which in the end wasn't so bad, cause he was easier to get out of the cage rather than the tank. http://www.thousandfootkrutch.com http://www.hawknelson.com |

At least he was easy to catch and came to no harm. I think you will find most fish can/will jump out of a tank, my latest jumpers were a Cherry Barb and a CAE both never survived all floor landers and found many hrs later Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info Look here for my Betta 11Gal Desktop & Placidity 5ft Community Tank Photos Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info Look here for my Betta 11Gal Desktop & Placidity 5ft Community Tank Photos Keith Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. Mind you, some fishes have a well-deserved reputation for being ICBMs with fins even without a net to encourage them. Hatchet Fishes are a prime example - freshwater flying fishes that can jump an AMAZING distance in relation to their small body size! Keep those guys WELL covered! |

(Another few million years of evolution and they might be capable of staying aloft as long as they chose, or rather until they needed to use their gills again.) I've heard enough horror stories about the little devils that I have never dared to put any in the library tank that I maintain. |
