I have a lonely black widow tetra that I rescued in a 5g (my 2 cherry barbs died) because I have a bully gourami and couldn't put her in the 10. My question is when I upgrade could I put 4 or 5 black widows in my 10...they would be the only fish in there. |

Black widows are one of the larger tetras, as they can reach almost two and a half inches in size. They are also somewhat active, and like to have a good amount of open swimming space. As such, I’d recommend at least a twenty gallon long tank for a school of them, though your twenty-nine would work better. ![]() |

You can trade the bully Gourami for more Black Widow Tetra & move them to the 29Gal. http://uk.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/s8xi5heh/my_photos http://www.geocities.com/s8xi5heh/classic_blue.html http://www.flickr.com/photos/corydoras/ Member of the Malta Aquarist Society - 1970. http://www.maltaaquarist.com |

I definately want a school of harlequin rasboras and maybe an angelfish. If I can have another school, I want either the danios or the black widows. My danios have been with me for almost a year and have been happy just the two of them, but since they are a schooling fish I am thinking of getting more. I'm also thinking of getting a 55g...if I can talk my parents into it. Then maybe I could have 3 schools of fish...maybe. ![]() I've never had a whole school of fish so i don't know how the others will react, especially the gourami. I put the black widow in the 10g for a short time but I had to take her out because the gourami nipped her fin. I like the gourami...just not his attitude. He's always been the biggest fish so maybe a school would intimidate him. |

Considering what you have, and what you want, this is what i would do 29 gourami ( maybe trade yours for another , or a dwarf if he doesnt calm down) 6-8 danios 6 blackwidows full, but ok aslong as you keep up with maintance, and not add all at once 10 8 harlies and 3-4 khuli loaches plant it well with stem plants- and keep up on maintance Last edited by hca at 20-May-2005 13:08 |
