Either way don't buy either until your tank is at least 6 months old and your going to do at least weekly water changes. My Scapes

Colour has always seemed more intense to me than that of the Neon, and the red running the whole length of the fish underneath the blue somehow does something for me aesthetically. And, I've now had Cardinals for something like 9 years with precious few problems! Panda Catfish fan and keeper/breeder since Christmas 2002

The neon's red only goes from tail to midbody and the blue from midbody to head, where as the cardinals have both colors through the whole body.
