IME, not quite as hardy as neons, but I like the full red belly--I find it more pleasing to the eye. Oh yeah--green neons >>>cardinals/neons.

I abstained because I think they both have their good points and their bad points.

Neons and Cardinals are both rather expensive around here, Cardinals moreso than Neons, but that's because they are not seen as often.... Neons are about 3 dollars each and Cardinals go for 4-5 dollars each.

They both look really awesome in well planted tanks and in good size schoals...

They both live for about the same time span, and get along well with most other community fish (although they usually don't live as long in them!)

I think, in the end, the choice mainly comes down to which is available and which has the better colour both for personal preference and for in your tank

BUT FYI: They can both get NTD, don't let that name fool you! It was believed for the longest time that Cardinals were immune to this dread disease, but latest findings disprove that appearantly. Not only that, but other types fish can get it as well, especially the Angels that prey on Neons in the wild!

L.

Cardinals, because they have better colouring and don't have those problems that neons have.

Less likely to get diseases and imo seem to be more interesting.

Cardinals because they are herdier and more colorful.

And around here they are the same price as neons...

Cardinal tetras, for three reasons. One, I have cardinals. Two, they look nicer, at least to me. Three, they are hardier aren't as inbred, and they don't have a disease named after them, as do neons.

EDIT: Haven't we had this poll before?

3$ neons like every store around here has them. And fairly cheap.
