I'm considering adding a school of silver dollars in my 125 gallon that current has 7 bala sharks,6 clown loaches, and 6 tiger barbs. Will I be ok in doing this or do you think I'll be pushing the limits of the tank to much and overstocking it?

I dont think that your overstocking but I would be concerned about adding more midwater schoolers. The balas would be grateful to you if you didn't add them you should look at some cichlids or bottom dwellers.

Well I'm not really interested in adding any cichlids into this particular tank. Adding the bottom dwellers is a good idea. How about instead of the silver dollars I add a school of something for the top level of the tank. Any suggestions of what would be best to add?

Some kissing gouramis would be good. They get larger so they wouldn't get lost in the balas. I didn't see that you had the clown loaches. You could probably get away with a medium sized plec.

For the top, you could have quite a few peal/blue/snakeskin gouramis. Or a literal school of dwarf gouramis, or hatchet fish. Don't forget African butterfly fish. The problem with kissing gouramis is that, once they get big, they get ugly. You stop wanting to kiss them...
And what kind of dollars are they, red hooks, or normal. I think the common kind only get up to 6", right? If not, I'd be a little worried.

You can't have too many gouramis as they are territorial with each other and could go at each other.

Those are all really good ideas, but to be honest I'd like to have maybe some type of tetra for the top of the tank, something that schools and really doesn't get over about 3 to 4 inches long. Are maybe even somthing besides a tetra.

Congo tetras would be good but if you want to save some money you could go with giant danios. They get a little bigger than you want but they're cheap and lots of fun.
