I recently got a school of these and they are full of energy. They have set up residence on the left side of the tank, rarely venturing past the halfway point. I noticed that in the school of 15 you can find the 5 rummy noses. Then there is the siamese algea eater, who might have just be a tetra. He attempts to school with them, although he doesn't quite fit in and his size kinda makes them scatter. I love the schooling of these little guys and so do the discus. Being the rulers of the tank they go where they want and that means through the middle of the school. The tetra's create a safety zone around the discus even though they pose no threat. All in all I like the antics of the new addition and they add to the character of the tank.

What does that mean, Bob? "Till the cows come home." Where have the cows been?

I really like bloodfin tetra's, although it has been quite a while since I've kept any. A very pretty sight it must be with that large of a school. Photos would be nice.

I managed to take a few pictures with my phone before the lights went off, my camera battery is dead right now. They aren't the best of pictures and I had a hard time getting a good picture of the whole school, much less a good picture of the fast little guys and as you can see the discus did not make it easy.

The best attempt at the whole school, but the color is a little off for some reason.

Another pic of the school.

The safety zone I was telling you about.

I will take some better pictures when I get my camera charged and when the lights come back on. Enjoy.

You can definitely see in 2 of the photos your rummynose schooling with the blood fins. Will watch for the photo updates. Looks like a nice tank setup. Make sure you post a full tank shot also.
