I like Diamond tetras a lot, and I'm absolutly in love with Congo tetras and just waiting for the day when I can get another large tank to keep them in.
For ease of keeping and a sort of understated beauty, I love glow-light tetras because they still have the neon orange stripe, but are much less delicate than neons.
I've also recently grown very fond of green flame tetras (a greenish irridescent body with bright red anal and caudal fins). Though I have to say it's strange seeing them in a tank with green water where only their tails show up...

Hoping that there must be a word for everything I mean...

My favorite would be neons. I currently have ~25 in my 30g. They look fantastic with the dark substrate

I've never kept but also like black neons, congos, and diamonds.

Cardinals. I have never been able to have them either too expensive or not suitable for my tank.

Now as soon as the Betta tank is up and running fully I will have at least seven in the tank.
