hey there - as i reported last week, my black phantoms were breeding. i have two females and 7 males, and the girls really took a beating during the whole process. i'm wondering if this ratio is ok, or if i should up the number of females. IME a lot of tetras do better with more males than females, but i don't know if 7:2 is too much for the phantoms - any thoughts or experiences?

With the closely-related lemon tetras, a ratio of one-two males to three females is best. I'd bet that the same would go for the black phantoms, since the males are such avid chasers. You don't want your females to be chased to the point of exhaustion, since they won't likely want to mate any more after that.

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."

I think that 1 Male with 3 Females is Ok.
You have 7 Males with 2 Females & i think you should add more Females.
