well, today i took delivery of my 50 new rummynose tetras!!! they are utterly awesome, i lost one in transit, and one's face and tail are still pale, so he may not make it thru - the other 48, though, are ROCKIN'!!!!

with lights out, i fast-drip-acclimatised for 40 minutes, released them, kept the lights out for another hour (there's enough light in the room for me to watch everything, though) and fed them two serves of hikari micro pellets in that time. by the time the lights were turned on, they were all red-faced, racing round in a huge comet-tail of splendour!! it's a sixfoot tank and there are so many of them that if they are all balled up at one end and some start to race to the other side, the first have reached the other end by the time the last are leaving, so it's totally awesome! it's like a gymnast's ribbon of fish along the tank. they are all very young, so they are fire-engine red, not the blood red of the adults. quite spectacular.

this is the biggest species group i've ever had, the previous record being a three-footer with 30 cardinals, and i am so impressed with these guys en masse! it looks absolutlely amazing, i'm stoked!

Please post a picture. It must be really cool. Rummies are really beautiful fish, with red faces & black&white tails.
I have 10 Rummies in my tank & as soon as i'll find some more, I'll try to double them.

Wow, Jase101 - that must be a really impressive sight. As said earlier, if you get a chance post us some pictures.

Nice one Jase

I've only got 9 but they are the best schoolers around.

They color up beautifully in time. The red will stretch all the way back to gills and the body takes on a nice green hue. Love 'em.

See if you can find a piece of wood or something to make a archway. For some reason they love swimming thru arches

Just add them to a picture-hosting website, such as [link=Photobucket]http://www.photobucket.com" style="COLOR: #808080[/link]. Then, link to them in a post.
