well i got some neons and cardinals. these are my first neons and my first cardinals ever. i think i got about 6 cards, and about 10 neons. right now they are in a 10 G with some other fish. i heard that they don't school with eachother but they seem to be schooling.

First thing Chris, and I'm sure you already know, that tank is over stocked...

Now, with that said, congratulations! I truly love my Neons, and love Cardinals, as well They are being forced to school because of the size of the tank. They will also school because they are so similar, though not always...

I just bought some Harlequin Rasboras and I have a Dainty Corry schooling with them, because of the size and appearance...My Emperor and Neon Tetras also school together, why? Who knows...It really just depends on your fish, sometimes they will, sometimes they won't:%) heidi

another Q. i think that they power head and the filter together in a small tank is to much movement. is this why they are around the bottom.

How old is the tank? Cardinals are very sensitive to water conditions and usually takes a lot of practice to keep them going good.

Tips: get a bigger tank
get rid of the powerhead
get a bottle of Cycle or Bio-spira
...or transfer the fish into a different tank entirely

They're sensitive enough that they probably won't do too well in a previously unscycled tank, hence the need for cycle and/or bio spira.
