how big do red bellies piranhas get?

im thinking of getting 3 in a 55 gallon
i know thats alot but i will get good filteration and make sure my water is always clean

with RBP b/c i had some questions awhile back, from what i was told, and saw, that these fish will get very large, as another thing, they like to school, and if in a small tank, will fight. it is not uncommon to see in stores 1 eyed RBP because of fighting in a small tank, i think a 55 is too small for 3.

the best setup for red bellies would be ~6-8 in a 125 or larger. they can grow to around 12" each.

That tank is good sized for an elong, spilo, or black rhom. Eventually you'll have to get a bigger tank if you go with a black rhom but that would be a very long time.
