recently purchased 8 sarpae tetras, i knew they could be a bit nippy, but figured 8 was a good number for my moderately planted 20g long. apparently not, within 2 days my panda cories, and neons had shredded fins. (sarpae's are shredded too)

any solution to this? i already have the sarpae's in my spare tank, planning on adding some meds to help both tanks.

i really do like these lil fellas, would prefer not to send them back.

umm, i dont carry sarpaes b/c of that, sinceu know that they are fin nippers, either return them, or have a tank just for them.

Yeah, unfortunately the little demons seem to be incurably nasty -- which means they should be in a species tank. A great pity, since they're both tough and beautiful.

You may be able to keep them with Tiger Barbs, but not with the fish you have now. I would put them in a species tank and find a more mwllow tetra school for the current one- maybe some Lemon or Rummys.

Don't add Serpea with Rummynose, as they may also nip the Rummies, but you can add the Rummynose & Lemon with your Corydoras & Neons without any problems.

we had to move our serpaes for the same reason, they kept nipping the cories. they are now in another tank with a loach and some ottos and all get along fine. we got flame tetras to replace them in original tank.

I hear your pain friend....

Serpaes are little buggers which is disappointing cos they are a beautiful fish.

Try them with tiger bards, danios, scissortails other zippy fast fish.

i hope your neons recover - keep them nice & stress-free and give them some bloodworm (comfort food!)

Thanks jasonpisani for clearing that up- thats what I meant. the Lemons and Rummys for the tank with the Neons and Corys. Serpaes in their own tank.
