They will eat pretty much any plant you put in the tank, and they really like fruit as well. They are not picky at all.

Anacharis is a good bet. It's usually very cheap, widely available, and easy to maintain, so you shouldn't have problems getting or keeping it. Anacharis also has soft leaves, which means that your silver dollars won't have any trouble chowing down. The only problem I can think of is that if enough leaves get pulled loose by the fish but are not eaten, they can clog up the filter intake and clutter the tank.

My Buenos Aires Tetras relish Bacopa Carolinia.
It grows fast, has tender leaves, and is usually a relatively cheap plant.
I think your silver dollars would enjoy it!

The dollars will probably get through the plants quicker than they can grow, you could choose fast growing species to grow in an outdoor bucket or something and replenish them as they are eaten, but its much easier to give them spinach and other commercial veggies. Organic stuff is best, that way you will avoid the pyrethrin pesticides used on a lot of commercial veg,you cant wash it off as it permeates throughout the entire veg. Better yet, grow your own if you can. Go fresh rather than frozen as the frozen stuff will lack the good vitamins like thaimin which helps the tissues and blood chemistry for co2 exchange in fish, a good thing to have in the aquarium.

Well if they eat duckweed like my congo tetras and a few other fish I have it's usually free to get and very easy to grow in any container of water. I got mine from the lfs that had an outbreak of it in their planted tanks. For awhile I was buying plants from there instead of other places just so I could get free duckweed to feed to the fish and applesnails.
