WHY can i not find ANYTHING on this site about white skirt tetras?? i have two long-finned versions, and its a little odd, had me second-guessing myself when i couldnt find anything about them.. but yet google pulls it up?!?
i know they are classified as Gymnocorymbus ternetzi, but that just pulls up black tetras and different varieties.

AGH.

Here is some info:

"Description
This species is a color variation of the popular Black Widow/ Black Tetra. A number of long-finned and color varieties have been produced, some of which are artificially colored.

Most notable of the color variations are the pastel blue and pink varieties, which are achieved via dyes."

You can read more [link=Here]http://freshaquarium.about.com/cs/characins2/a/whiteskirttetra.htm" style="COLOR: #ff6633[/link].

They aren't dyed. The White Skirt is a color version of the Black Skirt (kind of like an albino). Some of them are dyed but yours aren't. If they were they wpuld be bright green, red, blue etc. They would be sold as "Painted Tetras" or something similar.

ooook.... good.. i was sad, because i know that the dye can cause the fish cancer and unhealthy lives and i dont want to support any selling of someone that would do that to a fish. um.... i was also scared because i knew that the fish being unhealthy could cause my other fish to get sick as well!

GOOD. i dont have to worry about that then.

so they are white skirt tetras?

Your fish are normal "white skirt" tetras. These are just a color form of the black skirt tetra, Gymnocorymbus ternetzi. They can be cared for in the same manner as the black skirts.
