Posts: 1031 Kudos: 205 Votes: 110 Registered: 25-Jul-2000	I've had this car for three weeks, and this only happened within the past 24 hours. we're SUPPOSED to have some sort of neighbourhood watch kind of thing, but obviously NO ONE is interested in doing anything. if you recall, someone last october stole the front end off our truck, and now this. It is rediculous. Thankfully insurance will probably cover it, and i'm now determined to get an alarm. Not that it would do much, but at least it would deter them once it goes off. sigh this just tops off an already crappy week.

poisonwaffle Mega Fish Posts: 1397 Kudos: 591 Registered: 11-Feb-2003	That SUCKS, Lisa...I hope insurance will cover it I know a guy who installed the whole entertainment system in his car (PS2 w/monitors in the backs of head rests, 1000w sub system, etc), and somebody stole it. He took some money out of savings and put an entire paycheck into replacing it all and the next week it was all stolen again! He gave up on it and jsut sticks to the subs and an inconspicuous cd player, and to playin' PS2 at his house Stupid thieves...they can be so selfish Last edited by PoisonWaffle at 26-Jun-2005 01:07

Posts: 1031 Kudos: 205 Votes: 110 Registered: 25-Jul-2000	moondog - the front bumper, grille and lights that were in the bumper. left the entire wiring perfectly in tact. well, the insurance guy came out to our house today.. $567 worth of damage, so nothing too great, but we have a deductible of $500, so we're trying to see if we can do the entire thing for under $500 or so. Don't quite know yet though. The window will be $150 to replace, and a mobile service will be coming out tomorrow sometime to get it fixed. Thank goodness for 12months intrest free on my best buy credit card!!

Basically, this consists of a proximity detector. When someone without the requisite alarm key fob (which it picks up using encoded radio transmissions) sniffs around the car for more than 30 seconds, a speaker system tells said intruder to back off. If this is ignored, a propane powered gas burner system shoots several 12-foot tongues of flame out in all directions, which should be enough to deal with any car criminal not wearing three layers of asbestos Panda Catfish fan and keeper/breeder since Christmas 2002
