A new type of crab was found 900 miles south of Easter island. It is the oddest looking thing. It has fur on it, a water dwelling animal has fur boy thats something you dont see everyday.

Tell me what you think of it

Interesting fella, look like the "hug in a mug" arms they use in cuppa soup ads,

here the national geographic article on it.

After looking at that pic in git's link I think it looks like a big white tick with giant hairy arms....

Doesn't sound like something that would be able to survive in a tank based on where it lives.

Makes you wonder where in the evolutionary tree he came from. Assuming you believe in evolution

That would make a really cool looking tank with a bunch of those guys in it.

I'd say, upon looking at that and learning that it's found 5,000 feet or more down, that the hairy integument is sensory. Let's face it, eyes are going to be next to useless to a creature stuck permanently at those depths. So it's going to need some other means of sensing its environment, and those hairs would give it a kind of 'tactile radar'. They may also serve other purposes too, but that's the thought that crosses my mind.

Even so, I couldn't help but laugh at the thought of these critters sitting in a hairdressing salon having had all kinds of fashion weirdness unleashed upon them ...
