Now that HFS is back I'm happy they're also streaming commercial and jock free on [link=http://www.whfs.com]http://www.whfs.com" style="COLOR: #EB4288[/link] not that I can stand the quality of internet radio for too long .
Many of my CD's are ones that were thrown @me from the guy that worked in the rock station across the hall...that and well...lets just say there was a time when the music library was easily accessible :88) wave quality !.

I use a clean downloader that's free of the nasties that Cali was nice enough to point out, but most of my music is obtained without purchase. Either I download the song I want or rip someone else's CD (most of which are actually downloaded copies of those CD's anyways) if I want something in particular...

As for the second question that got thrown in there, in regards to shoplifting, don't doubt what can take place. I haven't lifted something in quite a while, but when I was in high school, I was pretty slick. I still scan every store I go in to and find all kinds of fun holes in security that I could exploit if I wanted to. Depending on the store, the sensors in CD's and other electronics may be able to be deactivated by just palming the item and swinging it over the deactivator. Some stores have gotten smart enough to only have their deactivators on for a certain period of time or require the associate to activate the deactivator by pressing a button or pedal. A lot still run behind, and a lot of stores still only have scare tactics in place. I remember walking out of a store with 14 pairs of sunglasses that were all equipped with sensors that would go off at the door (I'm sure most of you have seen the gates that stand at the doors of WalMarts now). There was one small hole in their security. Those gates? They didn't have any. Everything in the store had a sensor on it, but there wasn't a machine that monitored if a sensor travelled outside of the store. So harley, don't doubt for a second that no matter how well technology kills crime, technologically advanced criminals are still a step ahead. Even in the simplest of crimes...

Geesh... glad those days are behind me, but it was never anything but clothes. But really, is it even possible to shoplift CD's now with all the security stores have?

I just listen to the radio. When I find something I like that a friend has, I'll burn a copy. Rarely, I'll buy a CD, but normally get sick of half the songs and never listen to it.... except if it's road rage music and I'm stuck in traffic.....

A mixture of radio and CD buying. Never trusted internet music downloading apps because of all the scumware that comes attached to so many of them. Anyone using KaZaa lite, be warned, you get Gator and other Gainware nasties as a bonus, plus a brace of other ad tracking parasites that hog your connection and slow your access. Plus they send confidential information to spam servers.

And Morpheus users, watch out - get your computers checked NOW because some versions of Morpheus have been known to carry trojans that allow drive-by downloading of such unwanted scumware as premium rate phone dialers that you only discover three months down the line when you get a bill for $10,000 worth of calls to the Cayman Islands and Vanuatu. Most of which are dialers for XXX rated sleaze servers.

Most of my music has come from kazaalite. I don't download nearly as much as I used to, if only because some record companies have flooded the site with crappy versions of songs, so it's hard to get good quality.

But to be honest, I don't feel bad about it. If I like a band, and the band is good, they'll get my money when I go to see them in concert (tickets, t-shirt etc.) If I really like them I'll buy the CD no matter what (i.e. the new Oasis album coming out soon )

Artists could help themselves by making CDs less expensive. I can remember when CDs used to cost 10-12 dollars. Now it's 18-20+.

But please, when people complain about the "poor musicians"... cry me a river. So they make 500 grand a year instead of a million. Boo hoo. Get your butts on tour and show your real talent. And if they can't cut it playing live, then they're not talented enough to be famous in the first place.

Back in the saddle!

I use both Rhapsody (paid) and Limewire(free). I am not that thrilled with Limewire, but use it when I can't get a song on Rhapsody.

I'm goin' to abstain on this one. I used to download when it was legal... I haven't aquired any music illegally I've boughten one or two cd's in my life..and that was because I couldn't find it on the net My uncle gave me 'bout 17GB of MP3's that were on his old MP3 player when he gave it to me, I downloaded 'bout 15GB of Napster and Morpheus (I found loopholes ), and I ripped a bunch of my friends and families CD's, and I listen to internet radio and audio/video stream servers

All of the music on my hard drives totals up to 'bout 35GB....and I've got 'bout 300 burned/copied CD's

All of that totals out to 'bout 3 months of non-stop music

LOL I wonder how many people are going to be honest.
I have dloaded single songs from Kazaa to listen to and if I like the artist I will buy their CD, particularly if they're up and coming.
If nobody paid there would be no new music
