I do believe this guy was ready for anything don't you? I figure we road beside this boat, being pulled by what we figure was the wife and child in a suburban, the father was on a motorcycle infront of them...now the question is: "when they got to their destination, did he have any shoe left?" For the few hours we were traveling beside each other he basically dragged his left foot/toe...Anyways figured at the rate we were traveling having them next to us might be a good idea

Ok as promised some pics

This one is coming home Tuesday I think...Little White Ford Ranger looked well loaded...this was typical of how most of our vehicles looked, unfortunately some of the first night's pics didn't turn out:#(

Ok this is a pic, that struck me in a sad sort of way...there were 8 of the vans labeled like this if memory serves correctly or a few more...they were all pulled over to the side of the road, still don't know for sure what happened...but, i feel it is worth documenting--no this isn't the van that caught fire, that was another highway, and it was a bus...

I am already thinking forward to the nightmare drive back to Houston when 2 million people go home.

I cannot imagine the strain on the body and the mind.

On the phone with Heidi as we speak... she's about 100 miles from Nashville, where she intends to stop. She should be there in an hour and a half or two hours. *happy dance*

Understandably, they're all exhausted, physically and mentally. I think heidi is the only one awake in the car.

"Texans are still running for their lives" as she sees other Texas license plates. "There are some really sweet people out here!"

"Leslie and I haven't killed each other. We haven't killed Sheila. And a hint to anyone who will be traveling with pugs for any length of time... buy yourself some Febreze. "

"We got about 365 miles to the last tank of gas... about 30 miles to the gallon, versus 5 miles to the gallon before!"

She said there wasn't much interesting to report about the drive today.

The touring company of Evita is stuck in Houston. They are staying the night at a hotel due to "Evaction unsafe for the company while in the bus"...

They shoulda caught a ride with Heidi..

Heidi's stopped after driving for 23 hours. They're just inside Louisiana, near Shreveport. They've gotten a hotel room and are getting some much needed sleep.

Everyone is doing good.

I've been on the phone with her and have been passing on well-wishings and have even been liaison for those who might be in chat.

As for me, I found Sprint to be rather amusing today. I tried to call heidi and her phone told me that "Due to a hurricane in the are you are trying to call..." Sprint's all fancy these days.

Signal sucks where she's at and we kept having the connection dropped on us. *sigh*

In any case, they're safe and on their way to being the heck out of Dodge when Rita blows over.

think of this as a much needed "vacation"! It will help you relax! At least you and your family are safe... everything else can be replaced if need be!!
