IMO, you should toss the tiny crap speakers that are lower quality than the rest... you just get crap sound out of them and it screws everything up. If you've got one buzzy or freaky speaker in the system, it sounds like crap... toss it. Keep all of the ones that are at least somewhat decent tho (maybe run like 10 speakers or so)... You've got plenty of speakers... not enough wattage... I've personally got a total of 1000w of power on 11 speakers... BUT, I blew my main amp/receiver, and I need to get me a new one. So I want to get a new 2000w 7.1 channel amp and throw 2x750w subs on it and all the rest of my speakers that I've got (including 2x200w 12" woofers, 2x 100w 10" woofers, a crapload of 5-8" woofers, bunch o' mids, bunch o' tweeters, etc, etc...) ![]() I want to get another turntable too... and a new mixer *kicks crap midi mixer thing that doesn't work* ![]() And I need bigger paychecks ![]() ![]() Have fun bumpin' ![]() |

Alex![]() ![]() ![]() Fish Addict 510 Posts: 721 Registered: 03-Oct-2004 ![]() ![]() | So, toss the crap and get a another sub? hmmm not a bad idea the room is extremely extremely small though i think the one 12 inch might be enough i could switch one of my 220 watt sharp subs with the 150 watt sony would that be a good idea? |

A small room REALLY limits what you can do...especially if ya got fish in there too! I've got a double bedroom (2 normal 10'x12' bedrooms...ripped out the wall between, remodeled ![]() ![]() I feel sorry for you ![]() You got all yer stuff built into a rack or 'media center' or what? |

I'd leave out all the sony and crummy speakers and keep with the dream system units. A) The dream system speakers will be consistent. The enclosures are made of the same material. Different materials have different resonant properties, and when you start mixing them your sound goes downhill fast. A speaker sounds best on wood, so use them when you can. The dream system cones/baskets/surrounds etc will be of the same material, only adding to the quality and consistiency of the sound. B) Your mentioned amp will be loud, but if you like to listen to your music loud, it will have a hard time keeping up. Granted, the speakers have a decent dB rating, so it will take less power to get 'em loud, but since the amp will be getting a workout, your sound may suffer. Power amps aren't that efficient to begin with, and all the wasted energy is converted to heat, and heat = bad for electronics. Your audio processors start to suffer as well as the consistiency of the power. Cooler is better. If you start slapping all these add on speakers, you'll be putting less power to the good speakers, and quite possibly too much to the lower power handling units and it will sound like a dumptruck overturning on a freeway when you crank it. Home audio systems can be quite surprising even with what seems like lower power ratings. This is thanks to the higher voltage afforded to them by house wiring. If the room is small, a 10" high quality sub should fill the room with a nice low end, but i'm a sucker for bass and like to have the wind taken out of me when something hits, so i'd get more ![]() make sense? |

I'd definately upgrade the amp at that point if you do. |

Alex![]() ![]() ![]() Fish Addict 510 Posts: 721 Registered: 03-Oct-2004 ![]() ![]() | im thinking of now running a 3000watt amp through all the speakers and possibly in the future getting another 250 watt 12inch sub what do you guys think? |
