By removing any thing in the tank that raises the PH. Some rocks will raise the PH. I have been using a PH buffer for at least 15 years this keeps the PH at a neutral level. My tap water has a high PH level and this is my reason for using it. What is the PH you are concerned about and what fish are in the tank? Also what the PH of your water supply? Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. I VOTE DO YOU if not WHY NOT? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

They will adapt quite well to a broad range of ph and it probably won't bother the pleco either. It would be easier and safer to just leave the ph where it is. |

In which case the pleco wouldn't really work because they dislike salt and you have more than ph problems.
