Yesterday, I performed a water change and added some PRIME water conditioner as well as FloraPride (plant food) for my plants. Today in the morning my water was totally cloudy, it's so cloudy that I can't even see into my aqaurium. I assume its the plant food, since I never used it before. Moments ago I did another 50% water change, but there is no changes at all, just as cloudy. Is it is possible there is something wrong with the filter? What do I do????

Its probably an algae bloom, It can be caused by an overdose of ferts sometimes.

Thanks for your reply Budzilla.
I actually added, less than recommended on the bottle. I have a 27 gallon tank, I added 4 teaspoonfuls (they recommend 2 tsp per 10 gallons). Will it clear up on its own, or is there anything I should do.

What color is the cloudiness? White? Brown? Green?

Did something get into your filter and let all of the gunk out into the tank and stop the filter?

If it isn't that, my guess is algae bloom...

The cloudiness is totally white.

No, as far as I know, the filter is working perfectly.

White cloudiness is generally caused by a bacterial bloom. Is it possible that something you've done to the tank could have caused it (i.e. changing too much water, adding fish recently, overfeeding, etc...)?

Changing too much water...that could be possible. I also added CYCLE recently (perhaps I put too much of it). How long does the cloudy water last? Should I stop the water changes? My ammonia is a little high, I was trying to reduce it.

Ahhh... A combination of those conditions (a large water change, addition of Cycle, and readable amounts of ammonia) is likely what's causing the bacterial bloom.

Hold off on water changes for at least a couple weeks. The ammonia will eventually be converted into nitrite and then into nitrate. The tank may be cloudy for up to a week (rarely more), but it will eventually clear up.
