reun![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Big Fish Posts: 332 Kudos: 216 Registered: 04-Nov-2005 ![]() ![]() | well, i reset up the 2 gallon for when i get another beta. here it is it uses a small filter in the corner with a tube going down to inside the little mountain, and pushes the clean water up underneath a plate to keep junk from collecting at the bottom. it still will have to be maintained and cleaned frequently, but it works quite well. i cant seem to find a super small thermostat controlled heater for it, so for now it sits in the bathroom, door closed, and the bathroom has a seperate heater that keeps the water temperature at a steady 72 degrees. not alot of decorating one can do for a 2 gallon, but here it is, the backround has some plants printed on the very bottom, but the rest is a light blue that fades to a deeper blue. the filter was the hard part, its using a customised filter trap to house a element of my choice, and some ammonia absorbing resin chips as well as charcoal at the bottom in a small cache. the filter also had to be de tuned so the out put was less (was meant for a 3-5 gallon and was overkill even for those IMO), and then i had to get a nice tube to fit the filter housing and plumb it through the little mountain to the little grid under the rocks. the filter was set up for my last beta, but led to his un timely demise. one of the rubber grommets i used to seal the filter tube to the housing leaked some sort of chemical residue into the water overnight. i had pre soaked the components for a couple hours,and it didnt alter water chemistry, and it was a simple washer, didnt even consider that it could cause a problem. i pulled the washer out and moved nemo to a better tank till i could clear out the 2 gallon. Nemo, the beautiful crowntail, didnt survive the stress even with treatment, and died 3 days later ![]() *sigh* he woulda been fine if i hadnt started messing with filtration. in my search for a better fishtank i cost the life of a innocent beta... ![]() Last edited by reun at 15-Dec-2005 04:51 |
