Gilligan Mega Fish I love you Alena Posts: 1267 Kudos: 555 Votes: 50 Registered: 25-Mar-2003 | Hi, I'd love to make my 55 gallon Tank much more appealing, but as Im not very good with aquascaping I need your help. I do not really have a theme to it I just wanna have it look nice. I only have a measly 80 watts of light above my tank so Most live plants are out of the question. My dimensions are 48x15x18 All suggesttions are welcome and [link=Click Here]http://www.villagephotos.com/pubbrowse.asp?selected=957011 [/link] to see my tank. I like it, i would only try to place the equipment in one side and them add a tall plastic plant in front so it will be covered, also if you place the heater horizontaly it will work better and also can be placed in one side. The rock composition is nice, but would make it taller, maby placeing some tall rocks in the middle of that rock composition. Congrats! nice looking tank |

My 20 gallon is orange rocks black sand and green plants. Try to stack rocks, giving it some height. Dont do a very orderly arrangement..that would make the tank look rather fake. Also, driftwood would work great in your tank. I'll attach a pic when I snap some photos of my tank. |

I like your tank, it's quite nice. http://www.flickr.com/photos/corydoras/ Member of the Malta Aquarist Society - 1970. http://www.maltaaquarist.com |

I like Falstaf's additions with the rockwork and the large plastic plant in the background, but I would take it a little further. I would add one more large rock jsut to the left (from the viewing perspective) of Falstaf's additional large rock and I would have this rock rest atop some of the smaller ones so that an overhang was created over the central area of the tank... I would also add five-six more small rocks in the same vicinity as those already rpesent in order to create the aura of a rockslide... I would then take two smaller plastic plants and place them amongst the smaller rocks in a rather chaotic fashion, as if they were standing there proudly when a small rockslide poured over them and caused them to grow a tad wildly... It may seem like a lot, but I believe that a story could be told with such a setup rather easily. An entire niche could be created in such a tank without much more addition PM/email/msg me if you have any questions/comments regarding me or my knowledge or if you want me to read a thread. |
