LEE_WILMOT_706 Enthusiast Posts: 243 Kudos: 201 Votes: 3 Registered: 27-Jun-2004 | I need some ideas, I have a 5 gallon with a bit of bogwood which is the main part of the tank. Its quite large and I can't really get much in because of it. Should I take it out and cut it down or what ?? I need ideas as well, seeing that Its only a 5 gallon, I need to make it fell bigger. Plz reply, Lee |

Got any plants or plans for plants? Small tanks IME are a bit different when it comes to plants, in some ways easier than larger tanks though. With a little bit of lighting and CO2 you can easily break into the high light range of plant possibilites. Is this a more vertical or more horizontall tank and what is the stocking? ^_^[font color="#999999] When you feel so tired but you can't sleep Stuck in reverse And the tears come streaming down your face When you lose something you cannot replace. I laid 3 rocks at the ba P.S Stocking: 3 betta girls 3 Ottos Iknow its a bit overstocked, but with weekly water changes and cleaning, it'll be alright. Plus the ottos help me with the algae. Thank babelfish |

With small tank you need a larger "wpg" to get the same bang. This is due to the low intensity of having to use small bulbs like 9 watts for example. You can grow a surprisingly large range of plants without Co2 - a lot more then most think. If you follow the method outlined in my post above it's possible to grow quite a lot.Just very very slowly. You won't need the hundreds of watts that you would need to get the same light range that a large tank will require for more light hungry plants. We can get 11 and 13 watt bulbs here in the states. ^_^[hr width='40%'] The life, the love, You die to heal. The hope that starts, The broken hearts...
