I need some ideas, I have a 5 gallon with a bit of bogwood which is the main part of the tank. Its quite large and I can't really get much in because of it. Should I take it out and cut it down or what ?? I need ideas as well, seeing that Its only a 5 gallon, I need to make it fell bigger.

Plz reply, Lee

Well....if you want it to feel bigger you don't want lots of hardscaping IMO, so use only that small bit of driftwood. Got any plants or plans for plants? Small tanks IME are a bit different when it comes to plants, in some ways easier than larger tanks though. With a little bit of lighting and CO2 you can easily break into the high light range of plant possibilites.
Is this a more vertical or more horizontall tank and what is the stocking?

Well Babelfish, I did some change around last night, laid the bogwood upward, so it looks like a big tree a bit, the branch coming off it looks ike a tree root. I laid 3 rocks at the base of the wood, in a kind of line over the root. I added two fake hairgrass plants, and moved the fake java fern to the right hand side. I hopefully, will be able to post pics soon.

P.S Stocking: 3 betta girls
3 Ottos

Iknow its a bit overstocked, but with weekly water changes and cleaning, it'll be alright. Plus the ottos help me with the algae.

Thank babelfish

I would disagree somewhat. With small tank you need a larger "wpg" to get the same bang. This is due to the low intensity of having to use small bulbs like 9 watts for example.
You can grow a surprisingly large range of plants without Co2 - a lot more then most think. If you follow the method outlined in my post above it's possible to grow quite a lot.Just very very slowly.

I should have rephrased that.

You won't need the hundreds of watts that you would need to get the same light range that a large tank will require for more light hungry plants.

We can get 11 and 13 watt bulbs here in the states.
