trystianity Mega Fish Posts: 1028 Kudos: 926 Votes: 49 Registered: 20-Mar-2004 | I have a few aquascaping liks I thought I would share (suggested by Babelfish too). I thought it would be cool to make a thread collection with some good aquascaping links people have. Here's the first one, it's talking about catfish aquariums but there are some good ideas that could easily be applied to any tank, especially backgrounds: http://www.planetcatfish.com/shanesworld/s_c_288.php The second is an article you may have seen elsewhere that gives a good explanation of some basic aquacaping principles: http://www.aquabotanic.com/aquascapingprincipals.html This one isn't really an aquascaping link but it is a good introduction to artistic composition in photography. Knowing a bit of composition will really help you to plan your aquascapes better. http://photoinf.com/General/KODAK/guidelines_for_better_photographic_composition_introduction.html Last edited by trystianity at 31-Jul-2005 23:47 |

I was thinking a link collection like this would help a lot of people when they're looking for aquascaping info. Newbies and even really advanced people. I also have a few more: Arranging and Grouping Plants [link=http://www.aquabotanic.com/arrangegroupplants.htm]http://www.aquabotanic.com/arrangegroupplants.htm" style="COLOR: #36af30[/link] Open Aquariums [link=http://192.38.244.204/go.asp?article=259]http://192.38.244.204/go.asp?article=259" style="COLOR: #36af30[/link] Water Bowls [link=http://192.38.244.204/go.asp?article=259]http://192.38.244.204/go.asp?article=259" style="COLOR: #36af30[/link] Dutch Aquascaping [link=http://www.aquabotanic.com/dutchsecrets.htm]http://www.aquabotanic.com/dutchsecrets.htm" style="COLOR: #36af30[/link] Setting up a Glosso Tank [link=http://www.aquabotanic.com/glossostigmaarticle.htm]http://www.aquabotanic.com/glossostigmaarticle.htm" style="COLOR: #36af30[/link] 2005 AGA Contest: I really like browsing the galleries of past entries to get ideas and inspiration, they are also cool to look at any time because some of them are REALLY amazing tanks. By studying landscape photography you can learn to showcase your little aquascape in a more attractive way. I like to think of my tank as a painting or photograph, so a lot of the aesthetic guidelines you would normally apply to other media are just as valid here. [link=http://photoinf.com/General/Guy_Tal/Learning_to_Photograph_the_Landscape_Part_I.html]http://photoinf.com/General/Guy_Tal/Learning_to_Photograph_the_Landscape_Part_I.html" style="COLOR: #36af30[/link] Part 2: [link=http://photoinf.com/General/Guy_Tal/Learning_to_Photograph_the_Landscape_Part_II.html]http://photoinf.com/General/Guy_Tal/Learning_to_Photograph_the_Landscape_Part_II.html" style="COLOR: #36af30[/link] An important part of aquascaping is also photography, especially if you're sharing your work online. An amazing tank will not look so amazing in a bad photo. IMO this is one reason why Takashi Amano's books are so popular. He is one of the few that actually spends a lot of time and effort on photography to capture his work in the most pleasing way. I, personally, am not good at photographing tanks at all! I like the other articles on that site a lot. I also like to look at landscape paintings and photos, other art, anything that looks good to me, analyze them to see why they work, then use the same ideas in aquascaping.
