WHat would be a good gravel color -OR- gravel combination that would look good with a blue or black background and would look gould wiht a piece of driftwood, a green plant, and a red plant. Should also look good with mollys (not black) platies, swordtails, groumies.

Yeh I would go natural as it will provide the best all round effect.

If you go a light colour then the mollies won't stand out as much being of similar colour. Also if you go a colour for the gravel (green, blue, red) then it will not look natural.

But if that is the look you are after then go for it. It is really what you want out of it.

I prefer to stay natural or black. That usually works well with all fish unless they are black but not in this case.

Stay with a natural color gravel. You want the fish and plants to be the center of attention, not the gravel.

a Bright green, how ever i use a natural color gravel to bring out the fishes pure colors. but for a black background then green would make the tank stand out.

I have a natural dark brown gravel and a black background with driftwood and red and green silk plants in my two community tanks -- it looks great if I do say so myself, and shows the fish (platys, rainbowfish, etc.) off really well. I used to have a light-colored gravel in there, but it was competing with the fish. It looks much sharper since I swapped it out.

I'd go with black (either natural black or black glass chips, not that coated stuff) or rich natural reds with NO WHITE chips.

I like the idea of black gravel as well, I really think it would make your fish stand out

Currantly changing a coloured gravel because it looks grubby
