Cheap idea | |
novaviper Hobbyist Posts: 122 Votes: 0 Registered: 21-Feb-2003 | Hey guys I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for cheap decorations. I've used PVC pipe and terra cotta pots, but I was wondering if anyone else had any cool ideas... |

Then cover with aquarium silicone and roll it in gravel or attach rocks. It works as a support for the rocks, without adding too much additional weight. ^_^ |

You do need to be very careful that you get aquarium grade, there will be some marked "marine" you don't want that or any that are marked "antibacterial". If I remember correctly my tube was in a teal package :%).....and about half the price of the one you'd buy @the LFS. ^_^ |

Personally, I use GE silicone I " for window and door". It's 100% silicone rubber and clear...no anti mildew chemicals, etc. The GE silicone II says " not for aquarium use" but the silicone I does not... but it doesn't say " safe for aquarium use " either, but it is. WIth a company that makes both aquarium silicone and regular 100% silicone with no anti- mildew/bacteria, etc chemicals...compare prices, then compare ingredients. Call the company and ask them what the difference in ingredients is.... you'd be surprised. I also use all glass silicone, but only the black color for those projects where ya just need some black silicone..ya know? That's only because I couldn't find any other black silicone, hehe. I purchase my silicone in caulking-gun size. If you're truly a diy aquarium person, there is no other option, lol. |
