Okay, i recently took a trip to the river in my hometown and picked up some natural driftwood, i've had it soaking and fully submerged in a 5 gallon bucket which i clean out and refill with water every few days, i've got a heavy chunk of concrete on it, and i was just wondering if there is a way that i can get it to not float, any faster than submerging it???

also how long does that normally take???

thanks,
chelle

Attaching rocks to the wood when you put it in the tank will keep it from floating. I used rubber bands to straped rocks onto some of mine when i set up my planted tank. Worked like a charm and now the wood doesnt float

Jepp..add stones...i have done it too..you can see that on the picture below

As you can see i have some rock on the driftwood at the right side. That is enough to keep it down.
Later i will remove the stone..it has been a few weeks now so i don't think it should float

I know human beings and fish can co-exist peacefully.

Here is a [link=Link]http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/forums/Aquascaping/63086.html" style="COLOR: #ff6633[/link] to a post I made a while ago with regards to driftwood that I collected. It contains some information that might be helpful to you.

Hope this helps,

Well thanks alot guys! that most certainly does help out...

although im not sure how long this particular piece of wood had been submerged, it looks critter-free...

i had a great revolution earlier today, i have it submerged in a fully-cycled ten gallon tank and i suppose i'll have to leave it there for a good week and i can check the water parameters before i decide to add it to a tank with living fish in it ...

so for now, i guess i have a week or so to go.

Thanks for all the great advice!

Chelle

if you can boil it....... it works really well because it opens up the poors for the wood.

Yes, boiling will quicker the process of sinking wood. Don't forget to check the water parameters before you add any fish.
