	Dumb question about switching to sand
Beckwheat Enthusiast Posts: 178 Kudos: 19 Votes: 0 Registered: 25-Mar-2003	I'm not a newbie to fishkeeping but this is the first time I've ever tried sand. I put some of that cool Tahitian moon sand in a 36g today and the water is still black 4 hours later! So here's my dumb question(s): -how long can I expect the water to be cloudy with sand? -when can I turn the filter back on? (eclipse 3 system) Thanks! Becky

I stuck a couple of hob filters on there, ones that I don't care if the impellers get chewed up on. It's finally starting to clear up. Duh, Forrest Gump P.S. And thanks for the replies!

Babelfish Administrator Small Fry with Ketchup Posts: 6833 Kudos: 8324 Votes: 1570 Registered: 17-Apr-2003	Something you might also try is if you've got extra filter floss stick that over the intake tube on the fitler as it'll be much more effecient in trapping the particles, then as the filter starts to slow, pull the floss off give it a risnse out under the tap and stick it right back on agian :%).
